FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

How can I make my portable massage table more comfortable?

To give your clients the most relaxing experience, you will want to be sure the massage table is comfortable. If you have an older table that is in need of a little more love, there is plenty you can do to make your massage table comfier. You can start by covering the table with massage supplies like table covers and pads. They add a thicker, softer layer to the table so your clients won't feel a hard or damaged table underneath. You can also use massage blankets and towels to add even more thickness and add support to certain areas. If you find the table to have less thickness around the folding sections, you can also line those parts with extra towels to make the bed feel plusher.

Which massage table accessories are most useful in my daily chiropractic practice?

To perform massage in your chiropractic practice, you could benefit from using massage table-related accessories whether you choose to use your adjusting table or a separate massage table. There are a number of items that will not only simplify massage for you but make it more comfortable for your patients. Consider purchasing massage table accessories like linens, covers, and towels or adding massage table face and armrests and support cushions to your table. You may also benefit from using a rolling stool to easily glide around and treat your patients as needed on the treatment table.

How do you add an armrest to a massage table?

Massage table armrests glide into pre-made holes in the massage table. Your table should have designated spots to insert both armrests and face rests. These items can't remain in place at all times so they are removable. Flexible armrests can be adjusted to allow an even deeper level of customized comfort for each client. When purchasing a massage table, shop for the coordinating armrests to be sure everything works together nicely. You can also choose to add this feature later on.

Can I use massage bolsters and cushions with my adjustment table?

For certain chiropractic services, you can certainly use bolsters and cushions to position your patient whether using an adjustment table or any other type of treatment table. Massage bolsters and cushions are intended to firmly support your patient's body in the best position for you to access the treatment area. Positioning bolsters, cushions, and wedges are also used to elevate certain parts of the body to make your client more comfortable in general. For example, a cushion beneath the knees can alleviate pressure from the lower back. A well-placed neck cushion may relieve pressure from the shoulders. Having an array of bolsters and cushions nearby during sessions will give you the flexibility to slide them in and out as needed and maximize patient comfort.

What is a Reiki endplate on a massage table?

Reiki end plates are designed specifically for reiki massage tables. They are shaped like a U, a few inches tall, and about 3/8" thick. Reiki end plates are removable and are placed on only one end of the bed. They support the head like any other face rest but they are a slightly different shape. You may also line your reiki end plate with towels or linens to keep it clean and to ensure maximum comfort for your clients.

Which feature is the biggest advantage of having a portable massage table?

One of the biggest advantages of owning a portable massage table is that you can bring your business on the go with you. If your clients are unable to leave their homes due to chronic illness or pain, you can easily bring your services to them with your portable table in tow. Another advantage to a portable massage table is that they do retain their value very well. They can be resold after use for a very reasonable price. If you decide you no longer need your portable massage table, you can easily sell it and still get back a good chunk of your investment.
